From Rio into the Amazon
A small-group journey designed by MundiOCA. The group meets in Rio de Janeiro and travels together to Manaus with invited tour leader Diana Might, continuing deep into the Amazon to Juma Amazon Lodge. From the first airport transfer in Rio to the return flight, the core logistics are organized as one continuous journey.

At the Meeting of the Waters, the Negro and Solimões rivers flow side by side for around 6 km without mixing, before forming what Brazilians call the Amazon River from this point onward.

Winter finds Diana in Brazil, and we could not pass up the opportunity to invite her to lead our Amazon expedition. Diana is a true citizen of the world. She grew up at the crossroads of different cultures, speaks five languages fluently, has traveled to 57 countries, and has worked on documentary projects for Netflix and Discovery. She brings remarkable leadership energy: the ability to draw people in, move beyond the familiar and turn a journey into a living, profound and truly unforgettable experience.

We follow the rhythm of the river and the season.
Wildlife sightings and some activities depend naturally on weather, river level and the rhythms of the forest.
We chose Juma for more than a place to stay. It is one of the Amazon’s most distinctive premium lodges, where comfort exists in direct dialogue with nature: architecture woven into the forest, water that reshapes the landscape each season, and the rare feeling of living within the Amazon rather than beside it.
Juma was also the first lodge in the Brazilian Amazon to receive Green Key international environmental certification — recognition of its serious commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental conservation.
River View Bungalows
At 32 square meters (344 ft²), each River View Bungalow sits apart in the forest canopy and rises as high as 15 meters (49 ft) above the ground during the dry season. The architecture follows the trees and water, creating a private stay where the scale of the Amazon remains present from every angle.

Rio → Manaus → JumaGroup transfer to the airport in Rio and flight to Manaus. Continue by van and boat towards Juma Lodge, arriving for dinner and the first night in the forest.

Deeper into the forest

Diana Might is a filmmaker, photographer, traveler and somatic practitioner. People have always been at the center of her work: their stories, cultures, traditions, and the ways we perceive the world and build connections with one another.
Diana has travelled to 57 countries, speaks five languages fluently, and has worked on documentary projects about travel and extreme environments for Netflix and Discovery. Her work centered on human stories has received professional recognition.

Diana’s connection with the Amazon is personal as well. She spent a month with a Shipibo community in the Peruvian Amazon, learning about their way of life, traditions, and traditional medicine practices.
This winter, Diana will be in Brazil, and we decided to take the rare opportunity to invite her to lead our Amazon expedition.
For us, the leader of a journey like this is more than someone who accompanies the group. They set the tone for the entire experience: creating an atmosphere of openness and trust, helping people truly see and feel a place, share impressions, and grow closer to one another.
